In continuing to follow the direction of the Ministry of Education, Meezan School will not be holding on-site classes during the month of April. As with the rest of Ontario, at earliest, regular classes will resume on May 4.
To support student learning, teachers are continuing to work with students using online tools. For students in grades 1 to 8, this includes connecting with teachers using Google Classroom. Our expectations for the amount of learning, include:
- Kindergarten to Grade 3: Five hours of work per student per week, with a focus on literacy and math. Two hours of work in Islamic studies.
- Grades 4 to 6: Five hours of work per week, with a focus on literacy and math. One hour of work per week in each of science, social studies, french, and Islamic studies.
- Grades 7 and 8: 10 hours of work per week, with a focus on literacy and math. One hour of work per week in each of science, history/geography, french, and Islamic studies.
With the transition to online learning, please note that we will no longer be providing materials to collect at the school.
As with all health matters, Meezan School is working closely with information being provided by the health authorities, including Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health. We are also closely coordinating efforts with the Muslim Society of Guelph.
